Annnd We're Buying a Condo

Since it's been awhile since my last post, and a LOT has been happening since then, I guess I better update a little!  (And then go to bed... how is it already 9:45 on Sunday night?? This weekend went by incredibly fast.)

So Tim and I found a condo!!!  We are actually under contract right now, but we are waiting to get it inspected.  The seller is selling it "as is" since he never actually lived in the property, so the inspection is pretty much make or break.  If there is anything major, he's not going to fix it (and most likely won't come down from his price, although we will definitely see about that!) ...so cross your fingers for a good inspection!  It was supposed to happen this past Thursday, but all the utilities weren't turned on, so we're having to reschedule.  Hopefully it is the early part of this week - the suspense is killing me!!

About the condo... it is AWESOME!!  It is in the Oak Lawn / Lemmon area and is literally a quarter of a mile from our church.  It's two story (nobody above or below), has a patio off the living room (with a door from the kitchen as well) and a deck coming from the master bedroom upstairs.  Living areas are downstairs and bedrooms are upstairs.  Two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, walk-in closet in the master... it.  is.  perfect.  And what makes it really exciting (which might be a turn-off to some), is that it is SO boring inside... as in: white walls, white trim, white carpet, whiiiiiiite everywhere!!  It is a blank slate, clean palette, just waiting for us to go crazy with color and fun decorations.  I am so excited!!!

So needless to say, if the inspection goes poorly and we have to walk away, I will be very sad.  It seems to be in good condition though, so we'll see.  I'll definitely update about that!

Other news... we had a random roommate move in with us a week ago!  She needed a place to stay while she does an internship, we need some extra money so we can work this whole condo/apartment overlap business - annnd voila!  A win-win for everyone.  Plus she's really nice and fun and easy to hang out with, AND (just so you know) her doppelganger (thanks, Facebook) is Kim Kardashian.  Seriously - it's kind of crazy how much they look alike.  Oh, AND she cooks us dinner - which so far has been A-mazing.  Lebanese beans and rice?  You have no idea.  Mmm!!

I feel like there's something else note-worthy to mention... but I can't think of it.  So instead, I think I'll go brush my teeth with my new power toothbrush (I have been waiting all afternoon for this moment) and rinse with my new Listerine pre-brush whitening rinse.  My life is insanely exciting.  I know.

PS - okay Andrea, now you have to update your blog too.  It's time.  :)

Last Day, Sniff.

Well, today is the last day before we have to go back from break.  It has been a gloriously lazy/personally productive one for me - and it really has seemed a lot longer than two weeks!  I feel like I've been able to do so much, relax so much, and get so much done around the house and with my scrapbooking.  It's been GREAT!

Had lunch with some girls from work today at Sweet Tomatoes, mmm!!  It was good to get to see them - it reminds me of just one of the reasons that I actually like going to work everyday.  I also saw one of my students while we were there... it's like he was there to remind me that yes, it is back to reality to tomorrow!

Before break, I got all my grading finished and updated my lessons plans AND website for the next two weeks - so nothing to worry about today!  And this week we are finishing up what we started before break, reviewing for finals (easy and even fun - especially now that my new SmartBoard has been installed, yippee!), next week is finals (and probably watching Planet Earth to give the poor kids' brains a break when we're finished)... so the next two weeks should be a nice way to ease back into work!  I think I'll even have time DURING SCHOOL to grade notebooks... amazing.

So... tonight, I'm finishing up laundry (which I actually don't mind, makes me feel accomplished and ready to start the week, and I can do it while I watch my HGTV homebuying shows... that I am currently [wonder why?] addicted to!).  Going to build a fire later tonight and hang out with my hubby and drink wine... sounds like a pretty perfect way to spend my last evening of Christmas break.

To all my teacher friends - enjoy your last evening and I'll see you (if we work together that is) tomorrow!  To the rest... I guess it's just another Manic Monday.  ;)  ...that song makes me think of you, Andrea - why is that?

Happy New Year!

Hello 2010!! I still haven't decided if I'm going to call you "twenty-ten" or "two-thousand ten" or "oh-ten" (ha!) as the car commercials are apparently calling you. I guess I'll just wait for the bandwagon and proceed to jump on it. Regardless, I am SO looking forward to 2010 (however you say it) - looking for and buying a house, getting a kitty, and going to Hawaii for my best friend's wedding just to name a few things!

Hope everyone had a happy and safe New Year's Eve! We spent the evening over at a friend's party - went to dinner at Cristina's (mmm fajitas!!) first. It was a lot of fun... pretty low key - just hanging out and chatting, and too many margaritas. :/ I was regretting that last part today, but we had a great time anyway! If I was good about uploading pictures from my camera, I would post them... but alas! I am the worst. Maybe I will do that later tonight...

As for the most exciting thing that is happening in my little world right now, as previously stated - Tim and I are going to get a kitty!!! I have been wanting one for AGES and now it's finally going to happen!! I don't know when exactly - might be later this spring or even summer. Right now we're shopping around for "catteries" (which is the weirdest word ever and makes it sound like a mill) that are somewhat near here. Surprisingly I haven't found ONE single Russian Blue cattery in Texas! Oh yeah - that's the kind of kitty we are dead set on getting - a Russian Blue! They are soooo gorgeous and are supposed to be great companions, very smart, and laid back. Purrr-fect! They have the most striking green eyes and are very regal-looking. I MUST HAVE ONE!! Right now we're looking at some places in Kansas, Missouri, and Louisiana... so if any of you out there know of a Russian Blue breeder in Oklahoma or Texas - let me know!

GORGEOUS!!

As for my 12 Months of Resolutions... I think I'm going to start out with reading my Bible and praying everyday. Seems like out of all the ideas I have floating around in my head, that is the one that is most vital and should be at the forefront of all things to "better" oneself. Especially if you have been severely lacking in that area (like me) for awhile now. Good luck out there to all of you making resolutions this year. I'm honestly hoping to make it through January this time! And to all those boycotting them, because there are always ways to improve yourself, and because you might be setting yourself up to (possibly) fail by naming them a "New Year Resolution" - good for you too! I know you will still be doing things that make you a better person, as I know we are all striving to do throughout the year, regardless of what you call it and when you start.

And now, off to finally make some dinner (at 9:45 pm)! Goodnight!
