OU/TX Craft Day!

Well I couldn't very well post something today without mentioning the OU/TX game now could I??  It wasn't much of a game, but it sure was fun to see us destroy (yes, destroy) UT!!

You at least have to give them credit for not giving up... I'm kinda surprised they made it to 21 points that late in the game.  Final score?

Oklahoma 63, Texas 21
BOOMER!

But the real reason I'm posting, is because I finally got to some of my craft projects for little Haven today!  Tim stayed home from his painting class to get her room more cleared out (he has been working ALL day, and it looks so much better!!  Thanks babe!).  I told him to let me know if he needed help, and he told me not to worry - just to have fun with my crafts.  Awww.  What a great husband I have.  :)

So today was Onesie-Dying Day!!  ...and a few bibs... and I ironed on a couple of cute appliques I got as well.  They're going to have appliques at our couples shower for people to iron on, and I decided it would be cute to have some fun colored onesies/bibs for people to use in addition to the white ones!  So these may be cute now, but just wait 'til they're all appliqued-up!  I'm so excited!!  I might have to get a few more colors of RIT dye now that I know how it all works.  It was super easy by the way!

I love all the fun colors!

Got to have a little gray/yellow action - love this color combo!

And here are the appliqued ones!
The lighter pink dye didn't turn out well... the crystals
didn't fully dissolve and left big, dark spots. So this one
looks okay I guess, but she will only wear it at home!  :)
The gray guitar one, however  is AWESOME - I love it!!
So there you have it!  Those were my Saturday baby projects.  It was fun, and I'm quite happy with them, and they will be ridiculously cute after the shower when they are decorated!  And I found cute little iron-on tags that say something like "Made with love by: " that I think we're going to have them put on the inside - that way every time we put it on her, we will remember who made it for her!  Love!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!  Tonight we're going up to our friends' house for Tim's "band practice" - aka, hanging out with great background music.  :)  Then tomorrow is our 2nd "Dexter Date" with some other great friends.  And thennnn I made myself unavailable to sub Monday & Tuesday, so I get an extended weekend!  :D  Hopefully I'll be super productive... and maybe make some more fun baby crafts.

We're taking another bump picture today, so I'll post it soon - can't believe I'm 26 weeks now!  Almost to the 3rd trimester - craaaazy!!

Thank you!!!

And finally... a few thank yous that I've been meaning to throw out there for awhile now.  I've had the pictures, just kept forgetting to post about them!

First:

My sweet friend Kaitlin gave me this "pregnancy survival kit" to help me get through the next few months (she actually gave it to me a month or so ago, so some of it is gone now - put to good use!).  It had everything you could possibly think of... all of the food is long gone (there was even more... but by the time I took this picture the next day, I'd already eaten some of it!), and the other things have come in handy so many times - especially the gel eye mask (a complete life-saver during my 2-month headache fest), the cocoa butter, antacid tablets (hellooo heartburn.  everyday.), gum, and earplugs.  If you look closely you can see the cute little card she made with her sweet baby - I just had to include it in the spread.  :)  So - thank you, thank you, thank you to my sweet friend Kaitlin for thinking of me and giving me this awesome kit.  What a great idea, and so thoughtful!

Second:

Andrea, my bestest friend in the whole world (since 7th grade - wow!) got Haven her first gift!!  She got it for her before we knew her name, before we even knew she was a she!  I am pleased to introduce to you, Sophie the Giraffe... "born" in 1968 and not changed a bit over the  years since then.  She is made of real rubber (you know, from a tree?) and is soooo adorable!!  Apparently she is great for teething, and she squeaks... so that should be tons of fun for everyone, lol.  I told Andrea I wanted one, and that I would return the favor for her when she has a little one of her one (that's how close we are... I actually asked her to get it for me.  This could kinda make me sound tacky I guess, but I think it's more of a testament to how real we are with each other - and I love that about us!)  Since then, she has also managed to get us a TON of baby clothes (Haven is set for the first 3 months of life, fyi) from a friend who was getting rid of them AND is in the middle of planning what is sure to be the most amazing shower ever for Tim and me.

Third:

My mom came down for one of those consignment sales a few weeks ago - she got Haven this adorable little swing (I just fell in love with it!), some super cute outfits and sleepwear (I'm telling you, this girl is good to go for the first little bit of her life!), and some maternity clothes for me.  So sweet!  And it was so fun to go baby shopping together!  I'm sure it is the first of many trips over the years.  :)

We have such good friends and family - I just don't know what we would do without them.  Especially now that I'm not working, all these things are so incredibly helpful and thoughtful.  So thank you!!!  And thank you to the rest of our wonderful friends and family who richly bless our lives.  We love you!

Getting crafty!

Well I finally went and got what I needed for some crafty little projects for Haven!

I actually got fucshia, rose pink, teal, gray, and yellow dye... though I like that green... might have to go find it online.  :)  I got a few other iron-on appliques too.  It's something I've been wanting to do for awhile now, but in preparing for our baby shower, Andrea texted and wanted me to pick out some appliques so we could do some DIY onesies at the shower.  SO fun!!  So rather than just dye different onesies for my own use, I'm going to dye some to use at the shower.  These are going to be my practice ones... hopefully they turn out well enough to use and love!  The pink guitar is for Tim.  :)

I think I'm going to try to start them tonight, we'll see how it goes.  I'm taking Tim on an impromptu date... redeemed some Amex rewards for a yummy gift card (just in case he reads this, I'm not saying where yet!).  We'll see how much gusto I have left when we get home.  The onesies/bibs are all washed and ready to go though!!

I also got some paper-backed fabric that you can run through the printer... I'm going to make some of my own designs, print them out, and hand-sew them onto things.  That will be super fun I think... if I really get around to doing it!

Annnnd I have some nice glossy sheets of sticker paper that I've had for awhile... rather than buying the cute little monthly stickers on Etsy (something like the picture below), I think I'm going to try my hand at making my own!

If they turn out horribly, then I'll buy some (they're only about $10), but I think it'd be fun to make my own.  I know, I'm getting a little ambitious... we'll see how it all pans out!

In other news, I've finished up my long-term subbing gig.  Kinda happy and kinda sad... it was sad to say goodbye to the kiddos and my classroom (for real this time), but it's also been nice to be at home the past few days to get some things done.  I think it will just keep feeling nicer and nicer as the weeks tick by.  Oh!  And the plotting that one class was doing last week?  They went in together and got me a card, had everyone sign it, and included a $25 gift card to Babies R Us to get things for the baby!!  How sweet is that?  I was completely blown away.  It was a really nice send off for sure.

So that's kinda what's been going on!  Not much really... but that's actually kind of nice.  :)  I'll update when I finish some of my projects - wish me luck!  I'm really great at planning things like this and never doing them... so I'm going to need a lot of luck to pull it off!
